Wrong Vehicle Registration on Notice

If the PCN contains the wrong vehicle registration number, it cannot be enforced against you as the keeper of a different vehicle.

Legal basis

POFA 2012 Schedule 4 Paragraph 9(2)(a) - notice must 'specify the vehicle'.

How to identify this in your case

Compare the VRM on the PCN with your actual registration. Even a single character error is material.

Sample appeal wording

I note that the Parking Charge Notice specifies the vehicle registration as [WRONG REG]. My vehicle's registration is [CORRECT REG]. This is not a minor clerical error - it is a different vehicle. I am not the keeper of the vehicle specified in the notice and therefore have no liability under POFA 2012.

Replace [PARKING DATE], [NtK DATE] etc. with your own dates before sending.
