Tyneside CAZ does not charge private cars
The Tyneside Clean Air Zone (covering Newcastle and Gateshead, which launched in January 2023) only charges buses, coaches, heavy goods vehicles, light goods vehicles, and taxis. Private cars are not charged at all in this zone. If you received a penalty for driving a private car through the Tyneside CAZ, the charge should not have been issued.
Legal basis
Tyneside Clean Air Zone Order; Transport Act 2000
