Scotland pavement parking ban not yet active in your area
Scotland introduced a pavement parking ban that only came into force on 11 December 2023, and even after that date it only applies in councils that have made the required legal order and have trained enforcement officers. Some councils — particularly in rural and Highland areas — have not yet set this up, so a ticket issued by one of those councils is not lawful. There are also fixed legal exceptions the council cannot override: emergency services, road works, a registered doctor responding to an emergency, and deliveries or loading of up to 20 minutes provided at least 1.5 metres of pavement is kept clear.
