Loading Bay Restriction Applies Only During Information-Plate Period (art.42(1))

Article 42(1) of S.I. 182/1997 provides that where the RRM 009 loading bay marking is provided, a non-goods vehicle shall not be parked 'during a period which shall be indicated on an information plate'. Outside the period stated on the plate, any vehicle may park in the bay. If no plate states the period, the restriction's operative hours are not lawfully communicated.

Legal basis

Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 (S.I. 182/1997) art.42(1); art.4(4).

How to identify this in your case

Ticketed in a loading bay in the evening/weekend? Photograph the plate: what hours does it state? No plate at all is itself the defect.
