You already paid the Clean Air Zone charge

Most Clean Air Zone (CAZ) daily charges can be paid from 6 days before to 6 days after your journey. If you paid the correct daily charge, for the date and the vehicle shown on the penalty charge notice (PCN) — that is, the fine — within that window, the PCN should be cancelled. Keep the payment receipt from the GOV.UK Clean Air Zone payment service showing the same date and number plate.

Legal basis

Clean Air Zone Charging Order (the local charging scheme order); Transport Act 2000 s.163

How to identify this in your case

Check for a payment receipt from the GOV.UK Clean Air Zone payment service for the same date as your journey and the same number plate as the vehicle on the PCN.
