Single Yellow Line Without a Time Plate or Matching Zone Sign
A single yellow line only bans parking during certain hours, and the council must give drivers adequate information about what those hours are — normally an upright time plate, or a zone entry sign showing the same hours. If there is no time plate near where you parked, and no controlled parking zone sign showing those exact hours, you had no way of knowing the restriction applied and the charge should not stand.

Walk the street and photograph the line where you parked plus everything nearby: is there any upright yellow 'no waiting' plate showing the hours, and is there a controlled parking zone entry sign at the way you drove in showing the same hours? If neither exists, or the plate hours differ from when you were ticketed, photograph the whole street frontage to prove the absence.
