Grace Period Violation (10 Minutes)

Since October 2024, the Single Private Parking Code of Practice mandates a minimum 10-minute grace period after expiry of paid time or on arrival at a site with time limits. Issuing a PCN within this period is a Code breach.

Legal basis

Private Parking Code of Practice 2024 (Single Code), Section 11.1 - mandatory 10-minute grace period requirement.

How to identify this in your case

Compare the time your paid period expired (or you arrived) with the time the PCN was issued. If the difference is less than 10 minutes, the grace period was violated.

Sample appeal wording

According to the PCN, the contravention was recorded at [TIME]. My parking session expired at [TIME]. This is a difference of only [X] minutes. The Private Parking Code of Practice 2024 mandates a minimum 10-minute grace period before any parking charge can be issued (Section 11.1). The operator has violated this mandatory requirement. As a member of [IPC/BPA], the operator is contractually obligated to comply with this Code. This PCN should be cancelled.
